The foundation for 21st century leadership excellence is self-awareness. Once achieved, a leader has a clear perception and understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivations and emotions. It allows them to adapt to change and see beyond major disruptions. It prepares them for their individual path and purpose.
Are you prepared to lead?
Leaders of the 21st century will be asked to navigate uncharted territory.
It will put you in the driver’s seat yet demand that you let go of control.
It will seduce you to the edge of the unknown then ask you to jump.
It will tempt you with fame as you trip upon rejection.
It will lure you out of your comfort zone over and over. And what will accompany you is an uncomfortable level of fear. But your fear will not have the power to stop you from taking calculated risks.
Intelligent, compassionate and courageous leadership is the heartbeat of purposeful and positive change. It does not happen overnight. You can’t read it in a book or ace it in a final exam. Cheating is impossible. The veneer of impostors eventually cracks.
Don’t let that stop you.
You have the power to go forward, to act, to make a difference. Just know that it will require a high level of trust, authenticity and true grit. Characteristics worth developing.
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead
where there is no path and leave a trail.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
