Would you like to stay married or improve your significant relationship? Dr. John Gottman at the University of Washington says he can predict with 90% accuracy, usually after three minutes of observation, which marriages will make it and which will not.
He has been researching marriages for over two decades. His formula is that for every negative expression (a complaint, frown, put-down or expression of anger) there needs to be about five positive ones (smiles, compliments, laughter, expressions of appreciation and gratitude).
A good formula to use in all our relationships to help uplift others and improve the world. As you enter 2021 begin the habit of writing down each day five things you’re grateful for. Your overall well-being will improve immeasurably.
